Our Commitment: KaToon is designed with a "privacy-first" approach. All photo editing and cartoon effects are processed locally on your device. We do not upload your original photos or edited creations to our servers unless you explicitly choose to use cloud features such as backup or sharing.

2 Information We Collect

We collect different types of information to provide and improve our photo editing services. The exact data collected depends on how you interact with KaToon.

Your Photos & Creations

Photos you import and edited images you create with cartoon effects, filters, and artistic styles. All processing happens locally on your device.

Usage Data

App interactions, features used (e.g., filters, effects, stickers), crash reports, and general analytics (anonymized where possible).

Device Information

Device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and app version for technical support and optimization.

Payment Information

If you subscribe to premium features or purchase effect packs, payment details are processed by our PCI-DSS compliant payment partners. We do not store full card numbers.

Cloud Backup (Optional)

If you enable cloud backup, your edited creations are stored on our secure servers. You can disable this feature at any time.

Important Note on Your Photos

KaToon is designed to respect your creative ownership. Your original photos and edited artwork remain yours. We do not view, access, or use your photos for any purpose other than to provide the editing functionality you request. Cloud-backed content is encrypted and accessible only by you.

  • Service providers: Trusted third parties who help us operate our business (e.g., cloud hosting, analytics, payment processing). They are bound by strict data protection agreements.
  • Legal compliance: If required by law, regulation, or valid legal process (e.g., court order).
  • Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred to the new entity.

Aggregated, anonymized statistics may be shared publicly (e.g., "most popular cartoon filter"), but this data cannot identify you.

5 Data Storage & Security

Local Storage

Your original photos and edited cartoon creations are stored locally on your device. KaToon does not automatically upload your photos to any remote server. You control whether to back up your creations to our cloud.

Cloud Storage (Optional)

If you enable cloud backup, your edited creations are encrypted (AES-256) and stored on secure servers located in multiple regions. You can delete your cloud-stored photos at any time, which will remove them from our servers within 30 days.

Security Measures

  • All data transmitted between the app and our servers is encrypted using TLS 1.2+.
  • Passwords are hashed and salted using bcrypt.
  • Access to our production environment is restricted to authorized personnel only.
  • We conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.

Remember: No digital storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we take industry-standard measures to protect your information. You are also responsible for keeping your device and account credentials secure.

6 Your Rights & Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Deletion: Delete your account and associated data (most photos are already on your device).
